I saw this picture and immediately adored it. The more I looked at it, the more I found myself grinning. As my cheeks begin to hurt from smiling, my mind took over and began to contemplate the spiritual significance.
Trust – believing in the guidance and protection of God Almighty so much that all the “stuff” doesn’t matter. Despite the sky pouring buckets of rain, this young boy continues to play and push his favorite toy.
I thought, “Do I ever do that?” Do I ever ignore the negative raining on my day? Do I trust my Heavenly Father enough that the downpour of circumstances does not affect the enjoyment of my life?
I want to sear this picture in my heart and on days that I’m surrounded by the world and feel overwhelmed, I’m gonna put on my Crocs, smile, and push my mower down the driveway. Is it raining? Not today. I’m covered by God’s umbrella.
About Shelley
I Am Not Your Typical Woman
No 2.5 kids reside under my roof. No husband needing dinner or clean clothes. It’s just me and God. I am a single woman relying on Jesus. You would be more apt to find me watching college football (thanks, Dad) than cooking or sewing. Go Pokes!
As a voracious reader, I hibernate in the pages of Christian fiction, biblical truths, American history tidbits, or whodunit masterpieces. I love to travel and especially relish places in the mountains or by the ocean. I adore my nephew who somehow mushroomed from a newborn to 22 years old overnight. Many days of my life have been spent researching archives and traipsing through cemeteries to discover my family heritage.
During my career as a former teacher, I believe I made a difference in the lives of over 3,000 giggling girls and mischievous boys. They are part of my legacy. The rest of my purpose resides in building God’s Kingdom through writing and speaking as I proclaim the good works He has done in my life and how only He can truly set people free.
